It is not every day that you get to see Nature blush in all its beauty. It takes a rare destination and an even more special spot to enjoy such a unique sight. This is what greets you at Meenvallam, a tranquil strip of land nestled deep inside the soul of the Palakkad district. What greets you in this serene locale is a breathtaking waterfall that is among the most beautiful in Kerala. Descending from the top of the mountains, through hard dark docks, creating a celebratory experience of sound and sight, the Meenvallam waterfall is indeed a sight to behold.
Located near Karimba town in Palakkad, this 5-step waterfall cascades from a height of 45 metres into the Thuppanadu River. The river originates from the Kalladikodan Hills and joins with Thoothupuzha, eventually flowing and joining the famed Bharathappuzha River. Meenvallam waterfalls are situated about 8 km deep inside the forest, which makes it a spectacular and eye-catchy natural wonder. You will also get to see a hydel project with an installed capacity of 3 MW in Meenvallam. The forests that surround the waterfalls are an extension of the Silent Valley National Park.
The best time to visit Meenvallam is immediately after the Kerala monsoon season.
